Hi. I'm really doing this! I don't know what to expect from this forum. I know I will need help and support when my "evenings" begin. I am so over feeling horrid in the mornings and feeling shackled by the operating hours of the State Store (PA's liquor stores) I'm ready to call it what it is...I have devoted far too much of my life to this. This poison escape has cost me the most valuable and irrevocable of all gifts.....time.
And so begins my journey...Anchors Away!!!!

Welcome AnchorAway,

When I joined this site on Oct. 1, I didn't know what to expect either. Now seventy plus days later I can say that for me SR has been perhaps the most critical tool in my success thus far. Two specific places you may want to check out are the threads for the December class....generally made up of those making a commitment to sobriety this month and the sober weekend thread that generally starts on Thursday and is a place to gain support from those who've managed sobriety for longer periods of time. The thread is usually started by weasel1966. Hang out here as much as possible and you'll get the hang of it.

Best of luck to you!

Hey AnchorAway- Welcome!

Congrats on your decision to stop alcohol. I think you'll find a lot of support here, which can be a big help, especially during the beginning. I look forward to seeing you around in here.

Welcome "AA" ! I found this place 42 days ago and it's been a big part of my sobriety. While I was a very functional alcoholic (good stable career, marriage OK, houses, toys, no DUI's, decent health, etc.) I desperately needed to get off the drinking-recovering-drinking-recovering ..... hampster wheel. It was insane. Glad you found us. Some really great, kind people here. Good Luck, MJM

Welcome Anchor! I spent plenty of time in those State Stores too. :) It's so wonderful to be free of the shackles. You can do it - and you've come to a wonderful place for encouragement.
