Looking for some support!
It is amazing to me how people want to be your friend when you can help them. I'm in the worst situation I've been in and have zero support and no one understands. I've been drinking 3 quarts of wine and doing a bout 6 Valiums a day. I have no family that I speak to or associate with. I thought I had 4 good friends but not now that I am addicted. I tried Friday and Saturday to cut down on alcohol and I'd worry about the valium after. I made it until about 8:00 Sunday night and started drinking again, I couldn't deal with the feelings of withdrawal. I realize I cannot win this time on my own. Just looking for any advice or input.
Thanks, Dave.

I agree with Dee. Right now it's probably not friends you need..but rather a health professional to give you the advice and support about how you can safely put an end to the painful insanity.. Start there. And if you hang around here, you will connect with a lot of folks who do understand...who will be there as much as we can be here in cyberland. It's open 24/7.

I'm going to get in touch with my Psychiatrist. I actually did make an improvement this weekend. I drank 2 quarts of wine and took 40mg of Valium tonight. So that's a 1/3 reduction. Just hearing some comforting words and support is a tremendous help.
Thanks.

Hi.
To me your playing Russian roulette with 4 in the cylinder. I also strongly see your doctor and BE HONEST with what’s going on.
Only you can get you sober and you can when and if you do something about destroying your mental and emotional system.
BE WELL

Glad you're here!!
Self will is not enough for most......The same crazy brain that tells us to booze and use cannot get / keep us sober.
Consider a structured program - it works for many friends, I know it has for me
Keep coming back!

Not sure if you have thought about this or not, but if you are having trouble dealing with the feelings of withdrawal, seeking out a detox center might help. I know when I was in treatment, the nurses did a great job of making sure I was comfortable throughout that period.
Welcome to SR Davey. Why are you taking valium? I used to take it for anxiety but have since figured out the anxiety was really withdrawl from the alcohol. Once I quit drinking the anxiety almost completely vanished. It was a stupid vicious circle. I'd drink to quiet the anxiety and then when the booze wore off I'd take the valium to get rid of the anxiety from withdrawl until I could drink again. Sick and stupid. Taking the two together can kill you. Talk to you doctor about it.
I quit drinking altogether and am much happier that way.
