Kafkaesque's post really helped me

This is why it's so important to read and read in these early days, at least for me.

A post by Kafkaesque made a comment that she convinced her husband it was ok to drink then proceeded to do so.

That hit me like a ton of bricks this morning. I'm on day 6 and I immediately recognized that I started doing that exact same thing yesterday. Planting little seeds that a six pack probably wouldn't be the end of the world and I could just get right back on track Monday.

I've mentioned that he doesn't quite get this addiction idea and that I'm going to have to own this and worry about me, not trying to convince him. Yet there I was, manipulating the situation just so I could get the ok from him and drink today. Because that would make it SO much easier.

Thank you to all who post, especially Kafka in this case! Even if you think you're just getting something off your chest, it may reach someone else.

I will not drink today.

I didn't see it. I'm glad you posted this. I used to do the same. "Oh it's ok if u have a few" that was my free pass to have a lot. Good God I was manipulative and didn't realize it.. Or did, I don't know.

Thank you for posting. You helped me!

Our disease is very sneaky isn't it? We alcoholics can talk ourselves and others in to just about anything! Glad you realized this negative tendency about yourself...that is soooo ke to sobriety!
