Been trying to get sober on and off for 10years
Hi all, today is my official first day of sobriety AGAIN. And this time I mean it! I have been looking through this site and reading some of forums and am so glad I joined. I question why I didn't do this sooner, but I'm here now and looking to connect (:
Hope you find this forum as helpful as I do.
All the best
Welcome, Classypants, good to have you with us.
Yeah, I also tried to give up for about ten years before it finally stuck.
This place had been my salvation, hope you stick around.

Check out the class of December, you'll find a great group of people also getting started on this journey. Spend some time poking around the site, you'll find lots of great information and people.
Welcome to SR.!

Thanks all for the support. BernieE, I will definitely check out and join the December group. I'm relieved to have finally made this decision. I grew up with an alcoholic mother and never want my kids to experience what I did.

Hi Classypants,
I've been trying to quit now for probably the past 8 years and trying to cut-back for the 8 years preceding that. I tried a similar site 2 years ago but lasted two weeks and went head long into drinking again. I'm now determined to get my life back on track and found this site SR. I have to fully explore the site but I hit this thing several times a day to give and receive support but also to use as a tool to keep me on track. When I get itchy fingers I write a post here, read a post or reply to a post. Please keep in touch here it will definitely help you. It's a sobering site! Sorry, had to throw that in.

Welcome, classypants. Love the name!
Here is the December Class thread (it's in Newcomers)
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...er-2014-a.html
The class threads are really great to kind of get to know people a little, and to cheer each other on.
