Stressful day. Lots to do, husband being unhelpful AND judgemental. He does this periodically - sits around doing nothing and disses me while I try to decorate the tree ("not enough lights"), work on a long-standing home improvement project ("you should wait for a contractor to do that"), manage some workers who are here ("I'm going out"), do the dishes, laundry, etc, etc. This has been a big trigger for me in the past and I don't want to derail my sobriety. I know his bad behavior is about him and not about me. I know I can't change it. I've worked hard on emotional detachment so I don't get enmeshed in his issues. I'm making great progress, but I also know that when he does this, the first thing I want to do when he goes to work this afternoon is hit the bottle.

I just need a little support today.

Gosh, I feel for you, he sure isn't making it easy on you. Maybe YOUR success through this would be the best revenge. Do something nice for yourself tonight while he is at work, even if it's something little like a hot bath or a good pay per view movie. And make a point to tell him what a fabulous evening you had!!

Hey SunriseSky-

I just wanted to offer some support too, even though I don't have much else to add that hasn't already been mentioned. Except, maybe try and remember how hard you've worked towards you goal of sobriety, and try not to let your husband's insensitivity derail that. Focus on your goals, and remember just how important they are to you.
