The F it, I'm Going to Get Drunk Instinct
The F it, I'm Going to Get Drunk Instinct
Fortunately, I have not had this "instinct" kick in since around day 3 of sobriety. I'm at day 9 now and in fact, feel amazing. For those very early in recovery (like me), I have found that acutely recognizing my own triggers when they occur, has been tremendously helpful in denying myself from acting upon them. In other words, thinking about WHY I want to drink rather than just thinking about the act of drinking...
For me they are: H.A.R.L.
Happy
Angry
Restless
Lonely
Kind of sounds like "hurl"
Things are getting easier with each passing day - all the best.

Hey SoberD- Well done with day-09. Great attitude too!
Also, already taking note of what you're triggers are is huge. That should make thngs easier as you move forward.
I wish you the best with your continued progress.
