making another run

Im detoxing, im miserable, and I've done this too many times to count. It seems like everytime i drink I get withdrawl with less and less alcohol. Which is a good thing. May it'll help keep my ridiculous erm, derrière, sober. I know many of you understand how awful withdrawl is. It's just to find a forum where people can relate. Trying to explain withdrawl to a non-alcholic is impossible. Sorry if this post isn't making sense, im on day two and really hurting

Welcome to SR, we are glad you found us.

I had to lay low and take care of myself with TV, sleep, water and food.

You never have to feel this way again if you never pick up again.

Thanks everyone. Its good to be understood. I'm reluctant to say this is the last time because I've said it so many times before. That's my hope though. Everything is ALWAYS worse when I sober up But im not drinking now. I'll get through today. Then I'll focus on tomorrow. Lol sorry for whining, just no one I know has gone through this. Well, I guess that's the point of this forum

Down but not out, the same thing was happening to me. Drinking less or less often with worst hangovers. Somewhere in my readings I read that was a sign of another severe stage of alcoholism. The body can't take it anymore. It can't keep up .

Hi Down,
I am in the same boat as you. I just finished a 5 day detox at home, and I only drank for less than 2 weeks! I did have help from my Dr. with some anti-anxiety meds. Each withdrawal becomes more intense which is called "Kindling Effect". It does not get any better, and I know this will be my last detox because my body and mind can't go through this again!
I have probably gone through this cycle 20-30 times and they are getting more frequent (very scary). I work a good program, but I realize now I will need to step it up big time. Hang in there and drink plenty of Gatorade, that always helped me. Just wanted you to know you are not alone.

Mistory, I believe it's called sintering. Where it takes less and less to cause withdrawal im not entirely familiar with the mechanics. Or sure if I spelled that right

Thanks for posting! I can completely understand your feelings of having no one who understands! There are other alcoholics in my family, I'm just the only one who has tried to quit (as far as I know). Well done on Day 2.

Time to do it differently. I would ask myself... what's going to be different about this attempt?

If you can answer that question with things which have helped others to exit the endless cycle, your chances increase dramatically.

Welcome Down! It's good to have you with us.

I had many attempts too - but I finally got it right. I was drinking all day when I came to SR, completely ruined. Posting and reading here helped me not to feel alone. That meant everything, and I was able to get on my feet. I'll have 7 yrs. soon, after drinking all my life. There's no doubt you can do it too.

Never heard of sintering but Kindling sounds like what you're describing
