What's in a name?
 

I recently had an urge to drink tequila. It was only after talking about it from a screen name - herradura. I've seen other screen names - recently "JD" etc. and there are also screen names and titles that use a drug name, street name or whatever. Beers, wines and the like.

When I post a music video I watch it to make sure it doesn't promote drugs or drinking. If it does, I don't post it.

Please keep this in mind as we go into the holiday season. This is one of the most trying times for those suffering with depression and substance abuse.
So let's try to not cause any triggers for those struggling.

We can't do anything about screen names already chosen, but think about it for those signing up to be considerate when choosing a name. Thanks :)

LB - your screen name reminds me of that old super hero that no one ever talks about.... El Braino! Super genius of yesteryear! Superman kinda kicked him to the curb.

I'm more offended by the folks who demean themselves in their name but hey, it's just a tag. I changed my screen name because it was no longer me (actually it was my name since '94 on everything- t'was time). Others may change theirs as they change ( I just pm-ed an Admin.with request and reason). I found a skull cap at the thrift store recently with Budweiser ebroidered on it. I wear the logo to the back. It's a warm hat and was $1.

The "JT" in my name stands for "Just Tired"....I was tired of feeling like crap & tired of the drinking.

I picked mine because it doesn't roll off the fingers too easily, I have to think about when I log in.

Alright L Brain, you make me feel bad and now I am going to drink!!!! Just kiddin' 99% of people don't know Herradura is a tequila, so you are lucky! Think of it as Harry Dura, or harry brain covering, or hair brain if you like. We all need help with our dura's. Some people are right brained, some left and others are hair brains.

I think when people pick names it is innocent enough. I got in trouble once because my avatar was a wine glass in the trash , or something like that. I was told someone complained as they saw it as a trigger. That certainly was never my intention. Of course that was years ago.

I remember when my avatar used to drive you insane Brian . . . ah the good ol' days!! ;)

Brain. That is a funny new avatar. I'd like to shorten my name. There are a few options swirling in my head and perhaps your Thread is a sign that it is time.
