How are you going to stay sober this week?

I felt like posting, and it never hurts to get new ideas. This week I am going to stay sober by taking my meds going to AA, and focusing on the future and my goals. How about you?

Oh man, you sound so much better! It's great to see that.

I'm going to stay on SR as much as possible, turn down a couple holiday party invites I know are coming, and set aside a few minutes a day to work on this "mindfulness" thing that sounds so appealing. :)

By taking my meds, by having a positive outlook and by staying busy.

Jsbodhi 11-30-2014 10:24 PM

Take each task as it comes so I don't get overwhelmed.
Eat well, get candy though.
Come on SR.
Try not to panic.
Reiterate alcohol will only make things worse.

Prayer, stay on SR, CBT, take meds, take my daily sober pics, add a lil excercise daily, cut back on simple carbs, reading tv and help son with homework.

Read & post on SR

Read spiritual books

Listen to podcasts on dharma talks & recovery

What are your daily sober pics?

I am going to continue my new habits of checking in here everyday, treating myself to a Pepsi or two in the evening, and celebrating every morning I wake up without a hangover! (The waking part, feeling good, is still surprising to me!)

I love that too, waking up without a hangover, feels good to go to bed sober too.
It's probably a surprise to us because we spent so much time hungover.

Jeremy, you sound great, that's fantastic, my friend.

I' ll be staying sober by posting and reading on here, reading and watching things about sobriety and alcoholism, and going to AA.

It helps me to be grateful for what I have too. Every day is a blessing.

Mountainmanbob 12-01-2014 04:00 AM

on this day for example

9:15 AM -- AA meeting
and afterwards an AA business meeting
lunch with a sober friend
then drop by my Elders home for an afternoon cigar or pipe smoke (tobacco)
keeping it simple today

not to forget
I usually (let's see here) come to this site 10 to 20 times a day
This site reminds me of how it was, what happened and how it is now.

not to deflect, but did you talk to anyone about inpatient treatment today Jeremy?
maybe put that on your list of things to keep you sober this week, thinking about something and doing something are not the same thing

Hawks 12-01-2014 04:14 AM

Daily routine.

Up at about 6am, put kids back to bed after taking them to the toilet, coffee, prayer.

6.20-7.00 ring 4-5 guys from AA , morning check in. More prayers

Breakfast kids.

Go to work

Drive home, 4-5 calls with AA members

Dinner

Kids to bed

AA meeting or early night (4 meetings a week)

In between all that, there is step work, xa speaker tapes, reading the big book and being a husband and father.

Good idea for a thread!
I'm going to focus on the truly important things in my life - my family, my music (which luckily happens to be my job), staying on some healthy habits (good food, tai chi, good sleep), and of course lots of SR

readerbaby71 12-01-2014 06:58 AM

Taking my meds has been a no-brainer for almost 8 years. (minus one year that I went off of them and had to dig myself out of a suicidal hole of depression). Never again. I will also meditate daily, work on my writing, walk my dogs and am going to see Mockingjay Part 1 for $5 today.

So are you in inpatient treatment? I hope so.

mistory5 12-01-2014 07:14 AM

Jbod my daily sober pics consist of taking a pic of myself with my cell phone daily. I take them in the same spot with no makeup same lighting. Although I'm only on day 15, I can see my appearance improving lil by lilltle. I find it inspiring, I don't think I realized how much alcohol was affecting my appearance along with everything else. Just another tool in my tool box.
