First time here
Hi,
So post work drinks on Friday were fun. Got myself into a fine state, wasn't the worst there nor last to leave, I think.
Memory has failed me, but from what we can piece together my trials began as I left the taxi. There was a fall, at least I think it was a fall, and I smashed my face up pretty badly. Looking like the elephant man right now.
This isn't the first time, whilst my drinking is maybe under control day to day, my bingeing or occasional bingeing sees me on my own finishing out the night so I can drink what I want. Not always with the same results but I've had my face smashed in more than once.
Took myself off to local Doctor on Saturday morning, and once we worked through the injuries I asked for some assistance with my drinking, he was wonderfully non judgemental and I do still have the support of my wife, thankfully the kids are too young to realise/care.
Not sure where this will go, having read a multitude of threads here today I am thankful to at least have resources online to connect with others who may have been in the same boat.

HI S, welcome and thanks for posting. Smashed up my face a couple of times, not in the last couple of years. That's not really helpful, just an empathetic statement
I think you've already figured out you'll get a lot of support here.

Have a referral from Doctor to go talk to a professional regarding my general Mental Health. Until that happens my plan is to stay close to my wife and kids and avoid any situations that I shouldn't be in.
Out from that I don't have one.

S.. the longer I have been on this forum, the more grateful I am that I am a citizen of a country in which we are able to access good professional help with little financial burden. I posted this somewhere this morning, and in that post stated that I am going to take all the help I can get.
Well fancy that, you're in Aus too!
There is a lot of help out there, I lived in Vic for a few years. Start researching what is available in your area and make some appointments, then keep them. Just my two cents!
Good luck and stay in touch with SR.
