Doing well, day 4 (I think)
Doing well, day 4 (I think)
Since I'm not a day counter and I can't be bothered to look it up, I'm not sure how many days sober I have. Just a couple, maybe 4.
For me, counting days feels like an unnecessary attachment to something that's over. For others it might be a celebration every time though. So I can understand if you do count.
I'm still doing well. Slept pretty well, though I had stomach pain. This was the direct result of finally eating enough again, so I take it as a good sign. To think, my body couldn't handle normal food intake anymore. But I think that'll adjust and otherwise I'll ask my doctor about it next Wednesday.
Still no desire to drink. I like how the world seems clearer and brighter and how I feel better. Drinking would destroy that and I really don't want that.
Couldn't have made it to this point without all you all! Thanks!

hi and keep up the # of sober days, one at a time in a row.
Most people who are successful have a plan for not drinking because alcoholism is powerful, cunning and baffling waiting for us to put our guard down with the likes of our alcoholic thinking. Things like “ it wasn’t that bad, I can have one, if I eat first, I won’t drink until…., I over reacted and on and on.
The first thing we had to do is be honest about our drinking and that’s not that easy for most because we are in general liars. Next we need ti accept the fact we can not drink in safety. Forget the ah buts.
That’s a start.

Your doctor will ask you how many days since you last drank. Mine always does. I don't dwell on it either. Drives me nuts. It's like I'm fooling myself that there is a finish line. I just know I can't drink . More important, I don't want to.
Make sure you know your sobriety date for your doctor. If he is worth his salt he will ask

Maybe just mark in on a calendar and leave it, that way you can look back and know if you'd like to or if your doctor asks. Or look back on your previous posts.
Or you can ask me because, you and I quit on the same day, or within a day or two of each other
Either way the info is there if you need it

Thanks all. The point about knowing the date for the doctor is a good one. I'll put it on Nov. 25, since my username is twentyfive. I think it's officially a day later, but after just two weeks, one day off doesn't even matter anymore.
Btw, there's something else I was wondering about, it's about getting your health checked, but I'll make a new thread for that subject.
