hard times

The mother of my newborn son, my girlfriend, has been diagnosed with a mild form of borderline, depression, eating disorder, anxiety and disturbed-sleeping-pattern. It's all fixable, she started going into therapy

Most of the times we do just fine, but sometimes the overkill of emotions cause us to get in very serieus arguments.

My usual respons used to be: get high, don't care.

Nowadays I repress my flight reaction (We have a son, and we love eachother), with sigarettes and long sessions of videogaming.

I want to break this cycle.

I am gratefull I haven't relapsed with smoking weed, or doing other drugs or alcohol. I've sober this way for a long time but not the less I show addictive behaviour in reaction to stressfull situations with her.

She's not to blame, im responisble for my own actions, I lack the tools to deal with this complicated stuff, i'm just a simple guy.

I know this; I will help the situation by changing my addictive behaviour.

I don't think anyone is born with the tools CC...we learn them through experience...you will learn them too :)

I hope it won't be too long before you can do without the cigs again :)

Are you in a program of recovery and / or counseling?

For me, I found that I had to get to know and love me and develop understanding and compassion for the wounds I had inside, start to work on healing those. Couldn't escape addictive responses until I began to work on the root.
