Does it count? Really annoyed

Someone was cooking as I was leaving work and offered me to try.

I obliged and when asked what was in it, they said wine!!!!!!

I had a 1/4 of a tea spoon of the food, that was it.

I'd be absolutely devastated if that counts as me failing / going back to day 1 / relapsing - I'm hitting day 40 tomorrow and I've worked hard for it and I have no intentions of touching alcohol. It's questionable that there was any on the spoon given how small the spoon was!!

Really bugging me now, what do you guys think?

ArtFriend 11-27-2014 10:44 AM

1/4 tsp is so miniscule. This is a non-issue in my opinion. Don't get worked up over it because you may want to drink.

Coldfusion 11-27-2014 10:45 AM

There is probably more alcohol in a glass of orange juice.

Stewy84 11-27-2014 10:46 AM

So angry, it's making me think of going to get cans

freshstart57 11-27-2014 10:46 AM

If it were me, I would say of course not. Absolutely not. There would be more alcohol in a dozen different things I typically consume every day, and they are not significant either.

Are you looking at this inadvertent consumption of a gram or two of alcohol as justification for getting angry and frustrated to the point that drinking for real becomes an option? I suggest you devote your energy and focus on positive things you can do to build an alcohol-free life for yourself instead. Getting angry over this cannot lead anywhere good.

GroundhogDay 11-27-2014 10:48 AM

No, it does not count.

Carlotta 11-27-2014 10:49 AM

You did not know there was alcohol in it so of course it does not count.

Soberwolf 11-27-2014 10:51 AM

Stewy it doesnt count stop worrying

it is not a relapse dont go and buy alcohol over this

if it bothers you this much you must always ask if food contains alcohol

lovesymphony 11-27-2014 10:53 AM

I don't think it should ever count if it's an accident, no matter how much

Stewy84 11-27-2014 10:55 AM

I know this is blatant re- assurance seeking on my behalf guys

I do apologise

PurpleKnight 11-27-2014 10:56 AM

Don't worry about it, keep truckin'!! :)

Hope4Life 11-27-2014 11:18 AM

If the wine was added to food and then cooked, the alcohol probably was evaporated anyway.

Forget about it!

Congratulations on 40 days!

Briar 11-27-2014 11:25 AM

Don't worry about it. I cook with vanilla extract all the time, and that stuff is mostly alcohol (I've drank it in desperate times, very bad idea, unless you're into barfing in your kitchen sink). The alcohol cooks off anyway, so there probably wasn't any in the food you tasted. Don't let this trick you into thinking you've already failed so you may as well get drunk now.

bunnezjp 11-27-2014 11:47 AM

I wouldn't think so. Have you ever heard of anyone gettinga buzz from eating? Unless it's like an M&M buzz ;)....you're fine.

It's a non-issue. Keep putting one foot in front of the other One Day At A Time. You're doing great!

Hawk07 11-27-2014 11:49 AM

Such a tiny amount and if it was cooked most of the alcohol would have been cooked out. It doesn't matter at all unless you let your AV turn it into an excuse to drink. Always be on guard for this kind of wayward thinking in early recovery.

Happy thanksgiving. Stay strong.

Thepatman 11-27-2014 12:13 PM

I doubt the recipe was 1/2 wine and 1/2 ground beef. Don't worry about it. :lmao

hayley86 11-27-2014 01:15 PM

No, no need to worry! Keep up the great work! :)
