I'm back

Hi guys,

I haven't posted since the end of August. At that point I had 5 weeks sober, but guess what, I drank again. I should have come back and posted but I was too embarrassed.

Since then I have drank sporadically and have been better on the whole, but I have had enough of this.

I really want to stop completely but I somehow can't.

Help!

I remember this as a very supportive place before. Thank you for all the support you gave me in the past.

Welcome back! Don't feel ashamed, we're all here to support not to judge.:ring

Hi and welcome back.
I’m very familiar with relapses until a period of a bit of sanity entered my life and I heard things I needed at AA meetingS. Something that made a lot of sense to me is “we don’t have to get sober AGAIN if we don’t pick up the first drink one day at a time in a row.
I learned a lot about not drinking at meetings from the real professionals who were not drinking and still don’t many years later.
We have choices and hopefully we make the healthy ones because too many who relapse just don’t make it unfortunately.

BE WELL

Welcome back! Do you have any idea of what you will do differently this time? As IOAA2 said, AA is an option. If you tell us a bit more, maybe we can help.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the kind and supportive words, I love this place......I shouldn't have left here before, it's great.

Sprout.....I honestly don't know what to do differently this time, I'm at a bit of a loss, to be honest. Something needs to change, but I don't know what. Thanks for your kind words, they mean a lot.

A bit cheeky... Just thought I'd bump my thread, now that the USA is coming alive (time difference!).

What were you doing during the five weeks that you stopped doing, besides posting here? What are you willing to do this time? You know the saying, If nothing changes, nothing changes. You can do this if you make a strong plan and then follow it.

sprout50 11-27-2014 09:16 AM

I would try and pin point what worked last time and add to it. One thing might be post or read here daily to keep connected. And come here before you take that first drink again. Have a plan for when the little AV monster pokes it's head out again.

It's tough when you can't figure out where things went amiss last time. One thing you do know though, is that we are here for you.

Welcome back!!

What's the new plan, more support? meetings? etc, something to change things up and hopefully produce new results!!

You can do this!! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome back, everyone.

I am giving thought to your questions about what I can do differently this time. I really want to make this work this time.

Thanks again, everyone.

Have you checked into AVRT? It saved my life, not exaggerating at all. Between AVRT and SR I have over 2 years now. It's free and won't take long to look into.

Hi MythOfSisyphus,

I have looked into AVRT before, and I will do so again. At this point I need to try everything.

Thanks for your reply, you have been very supportive.

Have you tried AA? Not just a couple meetings but really giving yourself to the program?

Reading the book
Working the steps
Having a sponsor

.....?

When I finally did that, it worked.

Don't give up!! Are you yet willing to do whatever it takes?

You have nothing to lose and your life to gain.

awholenewlife52 11-28-2014 04:30 AM

Thanks again, everyone.

LBrain - thanks for the welcome back. :)

HeadLump, ahh, it's great to see you again......you were a great classmate to me in my 'Class Of......' thread back in the summer. How are you getting on? I'm so sorry that I never returned to post, I was mortified that I had slipped up. I hope you are well, great to see you again. :grouphug:

FreeOwl, I have been to one AA meeting in the past, and it was good but a little scary. :) I'm not sure about returning to AA, just yet, although I wouldn't entirely rule it out. Thanks for your support.

Edit to add......FreeOwl, I have read lots of the Big Book of AA and I love it, it really resonates with me, especially the personal stories at the back of the book.
