Great job Natasha. Getting started right away is the correct decision.
Early in recovery I have found that settling into a "sober routine" is helpful. This means getting up at the same time, eating meals at the same time, going to bed the same time, etc.
My sober routine helps me focus on activities that don't involve alcohol. And, when I get an itch to drink I just do the activity that should occur as part of my sober routine. I typically get the itch at night, so I am focusing on just getting into bed without booze. That feels like a victory. It feels exhilarating to be sober at night.

This is so bizarre. It's like I was supposed to start a day early as my poor six year old has been awake since 4am with excruciating earache. As I hadn't had a drink I've been able to sit with her the whole time, not fuzzy, and just comforting her and getting anything she needs! She's finally fallen back to sleep, but I don't need to, so I'll be ringing the doctor at 8.30am and getting her straight down there!
