2 week reflection
I'm grateful for two weeks of sobriety today. As I'm working through a 12 step program and getting involved with meetings, I can see now why my previous attempts at sobriety were unsuccessful. They involved a lot of sheer will power, positive thinking and letting success feed my ego. I was looking at sobriety in terms of a quick fix or a project with an end point. I am starting to see that sobriety is a series of daily work that makes up a lifetime, and it requires commitment, attention and support. I'm more of a loner and introvert type of guy, and what is really hitting home and at times fill my heart almost over capacity is the beauty of the human spirit and the connection that I experience in meetings when all of the pretence and bs is stripped away and people start to be real.
