Jeremy you sound like you've made a good start. How wonderful that you spent most of the day visiting your daughter! She must have been over the moon.
Would it help your wife and yourself to have "time out" from each other rather than use the word "separation"? Maybe you could ask the psychologist if using a different term is ok or if that would not be a useful to your recovery?
Whatever way it goes your sobriety has to come first, we can do nothing for anyone else until we have the tools to do so.
