sorry all

Hit the drink, sad and sorry, ground through a long day pretending to be normal, but back in the right place mentally

Had wanted to post anyway, I'd been feeling good, and having strange flashbacks and memories surfacing , like bubbles released from the bottom of deep water, has anyone had these experiences, body memories and sudden flashes of things said from long ago. Some of these centre on my dad who died 18 months ago, and I don't feel I grieved that yet, just pushed the emotion down to focus on my mum

Have been entranced by John Bradshaw as reccomended by another poster on this site

Anyway, that's me today, had nine days, blew it, back on one but happily sober tonight

Hi Jim

what else do you think you need to do to make this a permanent thing?

I am assuming you are speaking of the author Bradshaw who is often credited as the pioneer of all "shame" work?

If so, he is a huge proponent of shame work being doing in "community"..via 12 step recovery or even church community..

It is my opinion that SR is another excellent avenue for that....

You have to do the work though JG...you gotta talk bout the shame....you need ears to hear your story...

John Bradshaw is amazing!

I'm glad you posted and are moving forward. Is there anything you can do differently this time?

Hi all, thanks for your interest in my post and congratulations D on your milestone!

A plan...back to aa..the hospice organizing my mums care is trying to set up some counselling for me. But in the drinking its as though I can't set the priorities straight ..and with busy demanding jobs, family and care commitments its hard to drag myself out of the house to get to meetings. But that's my journey maybe.

Yes, Bradshaw, I've had soooo many 'aha' moments reading his work, and in fact had to copy out a passage recently as it so accurately defined my existential baseline of viewing/feeling the world. Incredible..
