Stopped drinking because I wanted to

i stopped because after 38 years of drinking heavy,I wanted to
See how it would affect me. No body said I should stop, it never
Affected my work or home life. But I have learned that I can enjoy
Life without booze. I sleep better, have more energy, I'm not impulsive,
I'm a better listener,I really think before I speak,I go to the gym
And feel better. Now I'm only doing this 42 days . No AAA or any
Other support groups , just this site so I will continue to post my
Progress

Good luck! Glad you're here!

Amazing that with 38 years of drinking it didn't affect anything..........I suppose there's a first time for everything.

I never lost people or stuff - but, drinking was like ripples in the pond of life. It affected EVERYTHING, for me.

Welcome

Went out last night to see a band with friends
Drinks were ordered mine was seltzer with lemon
The waitress brought me large glasses for free
And still had a good time watching everybody
Drink. Funny I don't miss it. Then I got to drive
Everyone home. Today I'm taking the bike out
For a nice ride early although a little cool
Peace .

Good for you

A great many of us had to stop because we ran out of options. Even then, a great many of us never wanted to stop drinking. Many of us would have liked to continue drinking with out having the consequences that occurred from our drinking.
