16 months today
 

As tradition has it, I try to post on each monthly anniversary. Not to brag but to remind myself that I'm a non drinker nowadays. It's getting easier to not think about alcohol all the time. It is however a difficult time coming up. Holidays. Trying to remind myself why I quit. To all newcomers, hang in there. If I can do it anyone can. I had over 30 years of alcohol abuse and tried to quit at least a dozen times. I even had 12 months in 1996. What's different this time was that I wanted to quit. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and no energy or no end to my anxiety. Are my worldly problems now all gone? Not by any stretch but it sure is a lot easier to deal with life on sober terms than in an alcohol infused haze.

Hi Tnman 16 months is fantastic i myself reached 16 months last week and so did Mags recently

that 3 of us now that are 16 month sober buddys

Yes, I still read your posts and keep an eye on you, lol. I try to tell people the way it is and it's not always easy or fun to not be able to join my old buddies, however when I feel that pity come on I begin to think about the reason why I'm now sober. Sober wins every time.
