The last thing I want to do is to make you feel down on yourself so please try not to take what I say as doing so. I'm concerned because you admit you don't want to give up drinking and attempting to rationalize a plan because ultimately, your admitting the amount you drink is becoming a concern for you. The very fact that your attempting to try to control using "rules of usage" speaks to that your having difficulty controlling it. I'd hate to see you put yourself on a pre- determined plan with no help only to feel like you've failed and then give up altogether. Do you think this is a healthy mindset?

Hi Jay!
Just like you I am younger person, probably considered a newbie in terms of drinking as well. One thing I can tell you, is that I was in your boat. I was always planning on cutting down on my drinking, and trying to control it. Eventually I lost and had a horrific 2 day memory lapse with police involved and frantic family and friends. I know it sounds ridiculous to give up alcohol at our age, but some people can handle it and others can't. I wish you the best in your cutting back, my inbox is always open if you want to chat. Good luck friend!
