chew me out

I am in the tapering down phase. I talked to my former sponsor today. My wife just went to a class and I am tearing the house apart looking for wear she hid the booze from me. Am I an idiot? Someone tell me to relax! The anxiety today was bad!

Relax. Don't tear up the house, it'll just pizz off your wife.

You don't need alcohol. Tapering never worked for me.

Gear up and get out of the house for a walk/hike. Change your surroundings.

SoberLeigh 11-18-2014 06:42 PM

Okay. Relax, FixerUpper; can you take a walk, do push-ups?

Stop tearing up the house. If your wife did hide the liquor, she did it because she cares.

Booze shouldn't BE in your house if you are quitting drinking. Other people in the household can go someplace else to have a drink.

Why not use that nervous energy you have to call your sponsor RIGHT NOW?

Here's hoping you can just get all the stuff out of the house instead of just hiding it. Because if it's there, you'll find it. However, if you know it's not there, you won't tear anything apart. You'll be darn depressed for a couple of days but the fog will lift. Good luck.

Tapering never worked for me either. Trash it and move on with life.

I agree with Lexie - make that former sponsor a 'born again' sponsor - what have you got to lose? :dunno:

Once, I told myself to go hike late at night to burn off the energy. The ole AV said, "Hike? this time of night?" The fore brain said, "Well, we used to do it when we did acid."

I walked five miles that night. Slept like a baby.

Good luck

I'll chew you out. What are you doing?!?! You know better. Stay strong and this will pass. Play the tape. How do you want things to be?

Stay sober and the anxiety will go away. :) If you're quitting drinking you shouldn't have it in the house at all. Ask your wife to get rid of it.

Hows it going FixerUpper?
