Newbie- two weeks sober as of today

I sleep well now and wake up feeling like a million bucks. But happy hours are really tough -- that's a weak point. Yesterday I almost bought a bottle of white wine "to cook with", and I really was going to cook with it but I wasn't sure if I would be able to say no to drinking a glass. I didn't buy it. It's a daily struggle.

I'm happy I finally figured out how to post here, as I could use the help.

Welcome Carrie, and congratulations on 2 weeks sober! That's amazing. I think you'll find a lot of support and encouragement here. That "cooking with wine" stuff sounds like something I would pull...good for you for resisting.

Drinking wine while cooking was a regular thing for me, also; it felt so 'cosmopolitan' - who was I kidding?! It was great you were able to think that one through.

Two weeks is terrific, Carrie.

Frankly, I stayed out of the kitchen for a long time. It wasn't really cooking with wine, though I used to, as much as drinking while cooking.

And I think you have a clever sense of history and humor. That is a great screen name!
