Welcome to SR! If the reason you feel you can't tell your DR is shame, please don't feel that way. Your Dr. is tthere to help you and just saying it and gettting help can be so freeing.

Your GP is there to help you don't be afraid to ask for it. Alcoholism is very common in the medical field and it may not be safe for you to go at this alone. We had patients on CIWA protocols all the time and for the most part everyone was okay but there was a handful of patients that became violent and confused. Let him or her help you!
