rookie sober
So i'm a rookie at sober recovery in need of support. I know i'm at the right place after reading through some of the stories on here. It gives me motivation to live a sober life. If you guys need support from me, i'll do my best to give encouragement and be a virtual shoulder to cry on if it need be.
Welcome to SR!! I lurked for quite a while before joining here. I was clean, then relapsed, then got clean again. Something about the people her kept drawing me back.
I am happy to say that I'm going into 8 years of recovery, with major thanks to those here who have supported me.
As a newbie/rookie, I would suggest reading around the various forums. I was addicted to crack, but I found awesome words of wisdom from people suffering other addictions. I learned about what the families felt in friends & family forums, and it was a sobering experience.
Bottom line, there is a tremendous amount of support here, many forums to gain wisdom from. We are a huge family, reaches to all parts of the world, but we have one thing in common. We are wanting recovery from something, and there are people here who can help that.
I hope you continue to read and post - welcome to a huge family with some of the most awesome people who have been there, done that, and got the t-shirts
Hugs and prayers,
Amy
