Stay sober song list Recently I've been spending a lot of time listening to music and re-connecting with it and I thought I would start a thread and post daily, a song I have been enjoying. The songs / lyrics don't necessarily relate to drinking or anything specific really. I just like the sound of them and positivity. I'm going to put my sober day on each post too. Here goes, DAY27 http://youtu.be/O9u7-lWE54M Thanks! |
Well done on day 27 Stewy |
I have been listening to RHCP lately. Anthony Kiedus has had a long time addiction issues with heroine. These type of artists have a lot of references to their fight with sobriety. Eminem, although not my usual genre, can lyrically be inspiring. In regards to RHCP i have been listening to Snow (Hay oh). Music is art and open to individual interpretation. I believe it has a lot to do with his addiction. there is a set of lyrics that say, When will I know that I really can't go To the well once more - time to decide on. Well it's killing me, when will I really see, all that I need to look inside. Come to believe that I better not leave before I get my chance to ride, Well it's killing me, what do I really need - all that I need to look inside. To me, I think about going to the well once more, and that means to me picking up, or drinking. I just can't go there even once more. Over all a great song and very catchy. http://youtu.be/KvlqclaxyP4 Not sure if you like that type of music, but let me know what you think! And of course, congratulations on the 27 days! |
Cheers sober wolf Barnumb I too enjoy the chilli peppers, didn't actually realise the lyrics to snow related so well. As I play guitar myself I tend to home in on riffs and licks rather than lyrics if you get me. I'll give it a listen again, it's got a nice guitar line in it too which I may try learn. John Frusciante is a cracking guitarist and a favourite of mine. Stewy |
Hey, Stewy, I didn't know you played. What have you got ? Are you the type with 10 expensive Strats, or are you like me, with one beaten up old beloved Takamine ? |
Stewy, I have an old Jackson, needs some work, but have had it for years. The lyrics for RHCP does take some effort to actually sit down and digest. He almost raps at double speed. "Under the bridge" is another dark drug story. Hope you enjoy picking apart the guitar on Snow. Great Thread! |
Changes by Eminem i was listening to it this morning |
Let's start a riot has been in my head for 2 days. I live an hour or so from Ferguson. I have 3 small girls so I hear more teeny pop than I care for but I pulled up Kelly Clarkson's rendition of "Shake it off" and could not believe how she owned that song. Seeing David Grohl do "It ain't me" for a Vet benefit concert last night was cool. |

JanieJ hi I have one stratocaster (Mexican) and a Gibson les Paul studio but if it was down to me, I'd add to my collection haha |
This one's hard to shake:I Sat By The Ocean (Live on Letterman) - YouTube Wow Stewy! Yer a shredder! |
If we are including kids songs, I have a 4 year old daughter, so Frozen is in play.Let it go is pretty well written. Not so much for addiction, but for relinquishing control over the universe. some things you just have to let go. Seems some of us have turned to alcohol to turn our brains off, after trying to be masters of the universe as a day job. |
Love is an open door is a favourite of mine and my daughters! |
