Just returned from hospital
I've had stomach pains for 3 days. I finally went to the dr who sent me to the ER fearing a gall bladder issue. My liver enzymes are slightly elevated, but everything else is ok. Probably small stones that aren't a cause for concern. I was asked if I drank. I told them I quit over a month ago. They said good and advised me to not drink anymore. They also asked if I needed help. I told them I was active with a few groups. Sent me home with some anti inflammatory meds.
How sad. It is sad. I am 38 with a small child and selfishly destroyed the vessel she came from. It's quite depressing.

Jennifer, you did the right thing by going to the hospital and finding out what was going on. One of my favourite quotes from the amazing Maya Angelou is one many of us recovering alcoholics can take to heart:
'I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.'
'I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.'

how about looking at it this way
how good it is that your not doing it anymore and that your child has a sober mum around her now
there will be kids out there tonight who no longer have a mum at all as that mum wouldnt of been able to have got off the drink in time to save themselves
so try and look at the positives that there are as it really does help in our mind state
my first thought when i read your post was how lucky that little girl is to have her mum now who is sober ; )

The human body is resilient, wise, and extraordinary.
When we quit drinking, we provide the environment for it to heal. Our bodies will heal up, maybe not fully, but powerfully.
No need to give yourself a hard time; just let the doctor's warnings be an additional voice which supports your commitment to sobriety.
Hey Soberwolf - I love your new wolf!! Looks like he is wandering in Alaska!

Hey, glad you are ok! I'll bet your body is healing itself now. Don't think too hard about it though. I know I can really dig a hole for myself sometimes that way. You are doing great, keep it up Kudos for not ignoring the pain and taking yourself to the doctor!
Don't think it depressing. Think of it as another reason to not put that poison in your body..your health and child. We all know alcohol is not good for our bodies but when something like this happens its an eye opener for sure! Glad you saw the doc. Feel better!

No looking back my lady!!! The past is the past and like Anna said, you were making it work how you could. You are making it happen, making changes and taking care of business. Give your body time and it will heal. I send you a big hug! We are here for you.
