I'm sick too and can't "call in sick" either but I have to be around people all the time. Busy weekend with kids' activities, and two very stressful weeks ahead. I need my cave.

Your weekend plans sound lovely, enjoy!

welp, I cooked the ceremonial venison tenderloin for supper tonight. First time I ever had it without a beer. You could cut it with a butter knife.

Lot's of good things happening on the weekender. Welcome to all the new faces.

AnewdayNYC, check in here early and often. You can do it. What are your plans?

It's cold here too. Winter coat, scarf, hat and gloves weather with very light powdery snow falling tonight. We didn't get socked like Minnesota but the cold - got one degree above freezing today.

I took advantage of having a functioning stove on Tuesday and made a pot of chili and roasted pork tenderloins. Kids demolished those. Got a good price on a piece of beef and will make pot roast but those I do in the crock pot.

Lagging on kitchen project completion. It's always the detail things that take the longest. Decided not to grout tiles until I get the other wall portion tiled and then do it all together. It's not going anywhere and no ones life depends on it being done.

Everyone's trips sounds great. Pics, BigS! MM, I want a Buddha for my yard. I like it.

There are a lot of bars near my job downtown so I need to immediately take subway/bus and get away from that area. On Fridays, I am usually in a really good mood once work ends (which is a trigger for me). Once I am uptown I feel “more safe”. I am thinking of either going to AA or Barnes and Noble bookstore (or maybe even both).

Good, have a plan, stay the course and come back here to check in!

Remember why you're doing this. Don't think you're missing anything or depriving yourself of anything in those bars.

I'm in for the weekend. Plan to do a whole lot of nothing and recuperate from the reunion and house guests, the last ones leaving Saturday. May take a 6 year old to Big Hero 6 on Sunday. That's it. I think if I could make it through that family reunion and all the stress that went with it, without drinking, I can make it through just about anything. But I know better than to be overconfident. ...

So HappyandFree you must be guest free by now. I hope they started helping out? If you go to Hero 6 I'm interested in hearing how you liked it. I'm thinking of taking my kids to see it.

ANewDay, it was hard for me at first to break the pattern of drinking on Friday. It's what I always did. But if you fight through it this week it will get easier. Keep that goal in mind and I'd say AA and the bookstore sound great. I'm going to try to get to an early AA meeting myself.

Melki, I'm having the same thing! Driving me crazy. The pharmacist suggested something for allergy instead of cold. Helping a little.

Brain, what is the ceremony of the tenderloin? Sounds like throwing out the first pitch of the World Series.

Sorry you guys are sick....it's the dreaded colds and viruses that appear to be rampant lately. I am praying that I don't get sick. Drink GINGER ALE. I swear by it when I'm sick. Ruby, I will let you know about the movie. It's got good reviews. I'm glad i did the reunion, but will not be doing another any time soon!
