Received my first chip today

Hi, I am new to this site. I went to my second AA meeting today. This is day two of being sober! It's not easy!!

Time2Focus 11-11-2014 01:51 PM

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your first chip! Hang in there and meet as many people in recovery as you can. When you are talking to/hanging out with like minded people, you spend a lot more time enjoying life rather than thinking about whether or not to take a drink.

That "24 Hour" chip is the best one. Carry it with you. :)

Someone told me if I wanted to drink to place it under my tongue and when it melted I could have a drink.

Nice work onward, and welcome to SR. It's definitely not easy, but it's very much worth it - keep at it!

Welcome, glad you found us.

Welcome to SR Onward,
...:)

Glad yer here. Yes, getting sober isn't easy. It was the hardest thing I have ever done.it required a lot of fighting off the craving and compulsion to drink.
Staying sober,on the other hand, has been relatively easy.
But it took T.I.M.E. for that to happen.
Did you get any numbers of others at ten meetings? If so, pick up the phone and call. If not, please get some numbers at yer next meeting.
Got a big book( that's the name we call the book titled alcoholics anonymous. It lays out the steps we took to recover from the hopeless state of body and mind)? If so, you might want to start reading it. If not, you. Can do a google search for "big book online" and read it online.
As for yer chip, what you can do is put it under your tongue. When it melts you can have a drink.
Early on it got down to one minute at a time for me and every second of fight was worth it.

That is great. One day at atine and just don't drink. I know it took awhile to get my parents to talk to them. After all the things I did it took awhile to get a life that is worth living. I have a roof over my head and have a ride to go to work and I have help to feed me. Soner is better than being on the street.

I'm glad you joined us. No, staying sober isn't easy at first. But it gets better and easier with time. Treat yourself well, especially in the early days and weeks. You won't regret being sober. :)

Hi Onward, welcome :wavey:

You won't regret giving up drink.

I'm on day 31 now, I got to AA and post and read here a lot. The first week was quite intense but it got much easier.

Keep close to us here and post if you need help.

You know what they say about those 24-hour chips, right? What they are FOR?

They told me that I should stick it under my tongue, and when it melts, it's OK to have a drink. :)

Must've worked, because it's been six years and that sucker hasn't melted yet.
