still here and drinking

and deeply frustrated. I think I have hit the bottom.
I cannot continue drinking- feeling so miserable right now
Family have gone away on vacation to vist relatives in another country (im staying for work and looking after sick dying parent)
Had to call off work today after getting through bottle of vodka , and knowing, knowing what a crap, appalling decision it was to drink

have been drinking on and off for months, and so bloody tired of it !

picked up last night after stressful work, stuck in traffic for 2 hours, missed my gym classes and knowing i was coming back to an empty house

just lying on the sofa now, waiting to recover. Could handle it alone, or comeon here and share. Aplogies to all for my unhappiness. I will do better

Hello Jim. I had to feel real bad before I quit. Some of us are masochistic like that. I did finally get a detox plan together and have been here ever since. You or I never have to feel that bad again. It gets better quickly w/out the booze. Best wishes on getting the plug in the jug.

Welcome back.

Making the decision to stop trading temporary gratification for permanent satisfaction is a hard one, but well worth it.

Do you have a plan for the next time you get stuck in traffic?

It won't end well to keep drinking. Let go and take what comes, you can be free

I went back to AA many times because I was unaware there were alternatives. Once I discovered the alternatives I found things that worked better for me. If AA is your path, then work it! Just be aware there are others.

Best of Luck on Your Journey!

Hi.
I and many relied upon it for sobriety when we got honest about our drinking and accepted the fact we cannot drink alcohol in safety one day at a time in a row.
Being undisciplined I wanted to do things my way until I surrendered. Suffered a lot of misery and guilt for all the broken promises I made during that period.
Fortunately I heard the words “KEEP COMING” along with the realization that alcoholism is progressive and a horrible way to die.
That scared me because a close friend who couldn’t stop choked to death in
vomit while passed out.
Scary.

BE WELL

Welcome back!

No need to apologize. I am similar, I learned the hard way I just don't handle stress very well. Specially 2 hours of traffic. But I also learned that drinking became my coping mechanism for stress, and that it only made things worst.
Seek ways to deal with stress, a key step I think for you, and me

Jim, it's a painful spot to be in, but you don't have to go through this again.
