What now?
I just stumbled upon this site. My oldest child is a alcoholic. His grandfather was a alcoholic. Overcame it when I was pregnant. His Dad still is. Got pregnant at 20. The short version of the story is I went on to finish college marry a amazing man have 3 more children. My oldest had minimal contact w his bio dad. We raised them in a Christian loving upper middle class home. He is now 22. He has gone to jail 2. Been kicked out of our home 2. Finally gave up the drugs but is in denial about the drinking. He is on probation Is not suppose to be drinking at all. Concerned friends of his reached out to me after a wedding this past weekend where he was so wasted he made a ass of himself. I love my son. Everything I read says I've done what I can, I've done what I could. It's all up to him. This is my child! How can I just accept defeat? I know many will say it is up to him now. Intellectually I know this. The mom in me roars from deep down..NO! |
