Longest in my life I've gone without a drink
 

Hey,

Just thought I'd share this with you guys.

Today marks 65 days since I've had my last drink and decided to ditch the booze.

The longest before this was April - June 2013 on a trip to SE Asia that I turned into my 'rehab holiday' but relapsed the day I set foot back in London.

I started drinking heavily at the age of 15 - usually at the weekends and it just spiralled out of control. So the best part of a decade poisoning myself.

Feeling, looking better and keeping it up.

Felt I needed to announce this milestone!

Congratulations, that's a great milestone.
And your post made me think, this is the longest I've ever gone without a drink, too.
Started drinking at 14. It's been three years ten months for me and I'm fifty five.
You can get there too. One day at a time and the days pile up, not to mention all the wonderful benefits of being sober. So good for you.

That's really impressive CL, considering how long you've been drinking. Have you got a further goal to aim for like 6 months?

Thanks for all your support guys. I found this website on day #2 and it has definitely helped keep me on track.

Feelinggreat - Well, I've come to realise that I basically cannot drink again, as I've tried (and failed) moderation many times. At times I do get the urge just to grab a cool beer. Although, the miserable aftermath of that cool beer is not worth it.

No the aftermath isn't worth it. Just keep remembering that when you get an urge to drink.

congrats on your new record! After 10 months I had the urge for a beer Saturday. Didn't drink - reminded myself why. Keep it up.
