How Sad Am I?

Earlier today I wrote about my wife finding my old bottle of vodka. I wrote how I wanted to regain her trust and have been sober for almost 3 weeks. I come home and the bottle is sitting there still. Not sure why she didn't pour it out. Now I'm staring at it and thinking maybe once she goes to sleep I can have a little. I spent three weeks on this board writing what a monster booze has made me and here I am thinking of having a drink. It's been easier to stay sober when there's no booze in front of me but that bottle of vodka is calling me strongly.

What is wrong with me??? Help please.

Its a test isn't. Perhaps your Wife expects you to drink it. Prove her wrong. Dump it and go to bed sober and tell her you have dumped it.

Just dump it - now.
save yourself hours of torture and self abuse and days of self-flagellation after.

dump it now and come back and post that you've done it

Hi there MF21. I read a lot of sober blogs outside of SR and I came across this one that I find very fitting for those of us that struggle/have struggled with not picking up the poison again. I hope it's okay to post a link (not my blog, not my writing). adult language warning

Get rid of it. I don't know for sure but I'd guess tomorrow you'll be very glad you did.

I did it!!! I got the through the evening with touching the booze. It's still there because my wife wanted to watch me pour it out but we didn't get around to it because she was taking care of the kids but I did not drink last night!!

On a side net I can't believe how strong the desire was. Haven't felt that strong in the 3 weeks sober. Scary stuff and I wouldn't have been able to do it without all of you. So once again, thank you my friends.

Congrats and way to go posting before drinking. You're pouring it out this a.m., right?

Yes I def plan to pour it out this morning. I have no desire to drink it which is very diff from how badly I wanted it last night. I foolishly thought it would be easier after 3 weeks but I know it takes a lot more time than that.

I think it really helps to not have alcohol in the house.

I wonder why your wife didn't pour it out? Do you think she is testing you or something? Seems a bit cruel

I think I might have made her get out of bed to watch me pour it out if it were that hard! I know myself, and if it were an open bottle of wine, it would not make it to the morning.

Good for you and now get rid of it!

You get really good at taking drinks over the years, these are ingrained habits. It's like riding a bike, you don't forget how.

Just don't get on the bike, man. Get that stuff down a drain or donate it to a normie neighbor.

Sorry, but somehow I keep hearing excuses on why it isn't being dumped out....it's just a bottle of booze, not a bottle of Chanel perfume for god's sake...dump it now! Why so willing to put yourself through that again?
