For those with this adrenal fatigue, have you had a good workup for liver, immunologic testing, and chronic illnesses such as Lyme? There are so many things that can cause fatigue and body aches.

That said, I am a former practitioner who practiced on clients with fibromyalgia when many physicians did not believe in it. Now it is a recognized disease. There was one specialist in our area back them, over 15 years ago, and he was a pioneer in the diagnosis and treatment of it.

But, do be wary of practitioners advising loads of expensive supplements and be sure they are all very safe. Natural does not always mean non-toxic.

I do share many of the fatigue/achy issues, but have for much of my life. Thyroid disease is all they have found. But I still get bouts of it even with that controlled by meds.

had full bloodwork panels - all normal.

gonna have that all re-done with this new MD who is also a naturopath and has an herbalist and another naturopath on staff at his clinic along with some other 'holistic' healing practitioners. I figure they will look at the bloodwork from a different angle.

By all counts, I'm a healthy, vigorous, relatively young man in good-to-great physical condition and there's no apparent physical reason for any of this.

Bearing in mind that much of "science" began as "pseudoscience", I am keeping an open mind whilst at the same time being wary of snake oils.

Next stop is an MD who has a holistic practice combining standard western medicine with naturopathic healing. While I have a respect for 'science', I also do not dismiss natural and holistic diagnoses as being quackery. Primarily because I have actually, personally experienced their efficacy in my life. Maybe that is nothing but "placebo" effect. But.... for me, it has worked.

Much of what I read about this relatively new emergence of "adrenal fatigue" describes what I have sort of intuitively thought might be going on for some time. So, I am going to integrate some of the nutritional aspects, spiritual aspects and psychological / physical aspects into life changes to support my body / mind and spirit. It can't hurt.
I completely understand and it is frustrating to have something where you don't feel normal and there is nothing to explain it. I do not dismiss that holistic or natural approaches may have some value. The issue I have is when they are trying to push supplements whose effects are not well understood and are expensive using tests that are questionable. However, the placebo effect can be quite powerful. Supplements also do have the potential to do harm. If you are on other medication, they could interact and cause for problems. However, since the FDA does not regulate supplements, who knows what truly goes into them, the dose, etc and what is true for one supplement may not be true for another depending on what is going into it, how its formulated, other products in it, etc.
I have certain issues with Western medicine as well. When your the approach to a patient is, "here have a pill" since the time the doc has is limited, I don't agree with that either.
However, I really try to stay away from drugs whenever possible and avoid supplements.
I've seen people on here talking about valerian root to help go to sleep. However, it has on rare occasion resulted in hepatotoxicity. I am just not wanting people to fall into the trap of I feel like this, so it must be this disorder and I need to take these supplements as they can only help since they're "natural".
I realize everyone will do what they think is best for them, but wanted to express my thoughts.

yeah I'm generally trying to stay away from 'here have a pill'.

I am taking several nutritional supplements like Omega-3, a daily multivitamin, Probiotics, a b-complex and also have begun trying holy basil and ashwuaghanda. My mom's physician recommended magnesium as an aid in combating harmful effects of stress. I did use that for a month but really didn't notice much difference.

That sure seems like a lot of supplements I guess.... but I think they're all relatively safe and recognized. My physician supports them and I'm looking at them as something that I am using to help bolster my body through a difficult time, versus a long-term solution.
