DAy 14 and still struggling
Hya,
I'm on day 14 sober, yay! However I am really struggling with symptoms. My initial symptom at hour 40 was a sudden head rush feeling, as if I was going to faint.
Since then I've felt dizzy, had random numbness and prickling sensations. I have been to the Doctors and had every blood test possible done, including neurology exams to try and rule out a stroke.
Now, I've been given diazepam, just 4mg a day. It helps, I feel calmer, I don't get the head rush feeling anymore. However, today the Dr said he wants to do an MRI and it's scared me.
Could I be experiencing anxiety due to alcohol withdrawal at this late stage, 14 days in? Have any of you suffered with this head rush, near fainting feeling?
Obviously I'm fearing the worst. I'm scared it isn't alcohol withdrawal at all and I have something else going on in my head.

I have had the dizzy feelings. Mine has been due to low blood sugar. I was getting plenty of sugar from alcohol-take away the alcohol.....
Now in no way am I saying this is your problem. I am not a DR. Only your DR can tell you for sure.

Did you tell the doctors about withdrawing from alcohol?
I had all kinds of weird physical symptoms for about a month. The anxiety lasted about a month, too.
The dizziness could have been dehydration, low blood sugar...
Regardless, I'm glad you're seeking medical advice. Maybe they will sort it out.

YES! I still suffer from the dizziness and my doctor has run all of those tests, too. The heart monitor thing I had to wear made me itch sooooo badly from those sticky things that I couldn't wear it after a week. LOL! Even though my blood work has come back mostly okay (big drop in thyroid that he says is still fine (?????)) I wonder, too, if it is just bouts of low blood sugar. It seems to be worse after I eat. I hope you find an answer. In the meantime, just take GREAT care of you! Eat right, sleep well, drink lots of water. . . all those things you know to do.
