Went to an AA meeting today
I have learned that I am not able to stay sober alone. I went to an AA meeting today. I got a meeting list book. I drank yesterday. I woke up from a blackout this morning. I need to surround myself with people who know how to live sober. I do not. I need to learn.
I got phone numbers. I called someone. This is life or death for me.

Thank you for the kind words. Being an alcoholic has been a nightmare that has turned my world upside down.
I need to learn to live sober because drinking is a miserable, it takes and takes. I have lost so much but I am blessed because with time I know I can be restored to sanity.

Glad to hear you are seeking help Brian. AA has a ton of avenues for support, and SR does too - when in doubt just call a number or log on here - there are many of us who have been there before and know exactly what you are going through. It will get better and you can get better too, just keep at it.

Being a recovering alcoholic living in the solution is a 180 from that.
Yes you can be restored to sanity. The bb says when that will have happen, too.
Hi Brian, I'm glad you are finding support. It has been crucial to my sobriety to have support here and in real life. I went to an AA meeting myself tonight. The feeling of walking into a room full of people is inspiring to me and a feeling of homecoming that here are people who have been where I've been.
Hang in there, grab a Big Book and USE those phone numbers!!! I didn't call people my first go around and I ended up relapsing. Even if to just call to say hello and check in, they were crucial.
