National elections are usually not interesting in Alaska because it has such a small population, and by the time the polls close here everything has already been decided. This year the Alaska senate race is a big deal so I actually may pay attention to what’s going on. As far as selling liquor, anything goes in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau; however many of the villages in the bush are “dry”, meaning liquor can’t be sold there at all. Doesn’t seem to help much because I think Alaska has some of worst alcohol related problems of any state, especially in many of the villages.
