You're right. It's a test.

I've read extensively about addiction and one thing I've learned is that each time you repress a craving it cuts out a connection your brain has to that drug and "reward".

The bigger the challenge, the bigger the reward.

Pass this test knowing tomorrow you'll be stronger. You've just cut another cord to alcoholism.

Thanks Thomas. very interesting post.

I will have to put up with him for about 2-3 weeks. he will be in the hospital or dead.

I'm not picking. He drinks when he gets up, passes out and starts it all over again. and does not eat much at all.

If we had the power to make people drink or make people stop we would be wealthy beyond belief.

If you have to stay then maybe you can use this difficult situation to remind of why you chose to give up drinking. Even though it may be difficult to witness it may help you to see the consequences you might face if you have a drink after seven days of sobriety. (Congratulations on seven days by the way!!!) It’s tough but hang in there and please stay safe and sober tonight.

Well this morning (stepfather) did not go get anything to drink. He's making breakfast now. I hope he stays on the right track.

After 2 years being sober, I bet he feels really guilty for drinking.

Popeye, I am sorry; I missed this thread yesterday.

This is not your fault, popeye. You did not offer your stepdad the drink or pour it down his throat.

Glad you stuck with SR as you dealt with this sad event.

Sending you cans and cans of spinach.

Sorry to hear that, Popeye.

There's no controlling what other people do

Glad you posted though.
