My emotions.....
My emotions.....
have been all over the place the last few days. I can go from the pits of despair to being obsessed and angry over nothing. I made post the other day that I'm not really proud of.
Confusion sets in at times and, very simple basic decisions become hard. This is very hard for me because I used to be able to make snap decisions and, have them be correct.
Then my sneaky little av sets in. It tells me, "Go get a case of beer that'll shut your brain down." I'm not going to drink though. I know it will only make tomorrow worse.
Guess I'm going to have to get through today an hour or even a minute at a time. That's frustrating me too. I hoped to be beyond that point by now. I hope this is normal for this point in my sobriety. Just needed to vent and get out there.

Hi jsm, I made a similar post about a week ago. Emotions all over the place and angry! It sucks, but I'm also feeling hopeful and energetic at times; emotions I haven't really felt in over a year.
You are correct, drinking will only make tomorrow (and today) worse, not better. Good for you. ((hug))

A roller coaster of emotions is common in the beginning; so many people complain of it in early sobriety. AVs can be particularly active at this time, too. Hugs, you guys.
Your emotions and reactions will level offf with time; hang in there.

Know it's tough, but with tenacity - support and continued willingness ( which you exhibit!) we may all prevail.
Our brains can be our own worst enemy - especially early on. One reason my avatar states Think, think, think is NOT to over think things to deeply - but, simply I have learned from others - that by the 3rd time I think it through ( getting rid of being impulsive) my thoughts = actions become more aligned with the next right thing!
Keep pushing through - as PK posts!

I been on some sort of amusement park ride hell as well...it's not for the faint of heart.
But guess what? This is healing..this is getting better..
We gotta put up with the swings and switches and it WILL subside.
We will learn to "calibrate" and some wise one said here...
Just keep riding my friend. Right here with ya.
(P.S. just try not to ACT on any of those feelings...that's what I have to do...restrain myself from acting and re-acting. I scream a lot of profanities while driving in my truck though)

I went through similar symptoms. Seems to be par for the course. Please hang in there and don't drink. These symptoms do clear up over time (for most of us anyway). Stay the course It's worth it!
