It's sweet that your friends care about you so much, bless 'em.

I've told everyone I have pancreatitis and can't drink, which is actually true anyway. No-one argues with that.

Hey Chuck.

Did you run out to the parking lot enraged, swearing that you'll never drink with them again and accusing them of a grand betrayal, like on the show? In any event it is, as you wrote, a very "odd" type of intervention. Whatever you did, it kept you from picking up the first drink, so good on you.

Telling your friends is more about the pressure you'll relieve for yourself rather than about anticipating how they'll feel about it.
