Need Advice

I will be 5 days sober at midnight. my plans are to stay on SR forum everyday for support. I'm sure, I will not go to AA.

I don't work. I stay at home. Have no money to buy beer. No urges to drink. (I drank for 36 years)

Will SR support be enough for me?

My mind is very clear on quitting!

Congratulations on 5 days, jp.

Many people have used SR only to achieve and maintain sobriety; for some, it is only a part of their program.

Only time will tell if SR alone is enough for you. My suggestion would be to read and post often; one of the very best parts of SR (apart from its members) is that it is 24/7, 365. There is always someone here.

Only you can say if SR will be enough for you.

I come here daily, and see a counselor once a month. Been sober doing that for almost five years.

Glad you are here!! Post early and often - Welcome!!

I have no idea and I think it would be presumptuous by any member to state emphatically that most, some, a lot, or none do any or all things to keep them sober. I am certain each member will share their experience, however.

I started on SR in mid summer this year. I read many, many old posts. You can go wayyyy back. I then looked up members that are still here.
I also attend AA daily, so I wanted to try and measure how many with long term sobriety also attend AA and use SR. Again, I looked at old posts and threads.

So, that is how I did my research......

You'll find one common theme......Do what works for you, It's YOUR recovery and you have to take ownership of it.

Great people here with lots of good advice. Just remember, it's not a 3D reality and while there is truth - just like outside in world, there is untruth.....

peace

I just had a idea.

I could always pick up the phone and speak with someone at AA, if needed

I know it's only day 5, but I feel good and my head is clear

SR was enough for me, jp.

If you find it's not enough for you there's a lot of other avenues of support, not limited to AA either

Happy to give you some links if you're interested

Dee, with my anxiety (being afraid around other people) SR is just what I need.

I'm coming up on 9 months and only use sr. I was on it a few times a day in the beginning and still check in daily. It truly keeps me on track. Congratulations on your 5 days jp, and welcome!
