Too funny...just in time for Halloween

I have to go in to the hospital tomorrow for what is called a Gastric Emptying Test (GET). Basically they feed you radioactive eggs or oatmeal and see how long it takes to go through your system.

I'll be glowing just in time for Halloween!

Who needs a costume?

What is the significance of this test you
have to go thru, if you don't mind me asking?

Oatmeal and eggs sounds like a good
breakfast to start the day.

Yep... it's just a small amount that doesn't get absorbed into your system. You, uh, eliminate it in your bowel movement.

Don't even go there! lol

Basically it measures how fast food is digested and moved from your stomach into your intestines. If it is too slow then they need to determine if you have a physical blockage in your stomach or if your stomach is not getting the signal that food is in there and it needs to digest it. If it is a blockage, then surgery is required. If it just the stomach not getting the signal, then medication to stimulate the stomach is required.
