So tomorrow is my 1 week. I can't say how proud I am of myself - and the cravings have not been that bad this week. So I was talking to a friend of mine and I asked him to make a wager on the world series game tonight - I offered a small $5 bet. He said no, I'll bet you a drink. I said no way five bucks, I'm only betting money. He looked at me oddly and said 'well what are we going to do this weekend?' I said anything but drink. He laughed, didn't bet me the five bucks and the conversation ended. I think I will be in for a test or two this weekend.

Don't be surprised if your friend feels betrayed if you don't drink with them. I've been down this road a couple of times with my brother-in-law has been my drinking buddy in the past.

I feel that I'm in the same boat. Tomorrow is the beginning of the weekend and it will be my 1st sober weekend in a long while. I'm 5 days sober and look forward to reporting back to you guys on Monday that I made it.

I'm in the same boat as well. My best friend is also quite the lush so, lousy as it is to say, I'm going to try to avoid hanging out with him until I get this thing under control. Keep up the great work dcrr - 1 week down is a great accomplishment!

Thanks everyone for your support. I'll be right here on SR Friday night at 9pm for the meeting...and probably earlier too. I'm already signed up for a sober halloween weekend and I have some things planned that do not involve alcohol. The encouragement I get here really helps a lot!

Hey dcrr, congrats on the week!
I, personally, still avoid these type of situations. They are really not all that fun anymore if it's a drinking thing, and everyone else is partaking but me.
