For yourself, you might check out AlAnon in your city.

Also, we have a forum for Friends & Families here on this message board:

Welcome Helena what a friend your friend has in you

Welcome Helena. As others have said, Al-anon or the Friends and Family will help you support you in this process.

For any of us facing up to our issues/addictions (aka demons, terrifying monsters lol)...well, it can be lonely and scary business. What makes it doable and survivable is being heard and supported by fellow warriors facing the darkness with you.

Sometimes we want to rescue others...an admirable but sometimes..just sometimes..not a healthy venture. It is important that we are not overwhelmed by "someone else's business" in that ...we lose ourselves or what is best or healthy for us.

Someone in recovery...definitely needs love and support and understanding and companionship..but be very clear this is his fight..and not yours.

You..as a fellow human..have your own stuff to face and deal with ...so yes, since you are not abandoning this soul...ensure you have support for yourself to keep yourself healthy.

Hope that makes sense.
