Another day
Well I'm starting to feel a bit better. I went to a meeting again today, that's four days in a row. On my way home from my meeting yesterday I stopped and joined a gym. I went there today after the meeting and only managed 15 minutes on the cardio machine but it is a start. I'm way out of shape and need to quit smoking as well. I'm going to hold off on the quitting smoking though until I get a bit more sober time under my belt.
Lucky I have not had any cravings to drink. I think the panic I had over my health issues helps keep me in check and I look at all that fear I had as a message from God that this is my final chance.
While walking my dog today I actually smiled at people and said hello when we passed each other. I used to just duck my head and pretend not to see people.
Anyway, just checking in. I hope you all are well.

Great decision on joining a gym! If you keep going, your fitness levels will slowly improve and you will become a sober ass kicking machine! If you don't have any issues preventing you from running, check out the C25K program. It really works if you stick with it. Just be sure to visit a running store for proper footwear.
I too need to get back into fitness and quit smoking, and plan on a little more sober time before giving that up again as well. Sometimes having a cig helps when temptations rise.

Hey JustTrogdor, nice job! From reading your post, it seems clear that you're very serious about your goal to stop. IE: Joining the gym...
I think you'll find that exercise will make things much easier to keep to your goal. You'll sleep better and in time, you'll begin to see the benefits of both abstaining from the booze as well as the fitness of your exercises. You will have, in essence, created a lifestyle where alcohol does not belong.
Nice!!
