I Took My Son Out

Took him to his tee ball game, played with him then went to get an iced-t and home. This is what normal people do but don't feel the need to post about it. I'm not normal. I'm an alcoholic. I'm 4 days sober and for the first time in a long time I didn't stop off at a liquor store before doing those things. And I got my son home safely. And I will do that again tomorrow and day after and day after.

Way to go Mighty Flea!!!! "Normal" is what so many people, in early recovery, are striving for.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Great stuff!! :scoregood

It took a while for things to become normal for me, but in time we create our own new habits!!

Keep pushing through!! :)

Use all the electrons you need. Feeling a sense of accomplishment for baby steps in solving a big problem is a good thing!

I call my sister when I do something like get my hair done.
Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about.
Well done on 4 days.

We do understand how important those small things are.

And, really, when you're talking about your child, they're not small things after all.

Things like that mean so much to kids. :) My kids were always glad I went to school affairs and stuff like that. :)

Way you go!

Great work Mightyflea21! These moments are what eventually (over many years) allowed me to quit without much problem (of course with SR support!). Though, the bad things also helped that decision/commitment ;-).

Stay strong and be a Father without regrets. I am not a Father but I can tell mine has regrets and it seems horrible to live with.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Y'now what? Normal people DO post about things like that! Not always on SR but on forums and sites where other normal people hang out talking about doing normal things. Go over to Gardenweb.com and see.

That's true, Trachemys. Its wonderful to hear someone share the precious things in life.
Way to go, MightyFlea. Your post made me very happy for you and for your sweet child.
