Unhappy What a week...

I started out so hopeful on Monday and now I am at an all time low. First found out that I am going to need more tests for my stomach issues. That is not a good sign. Went to the ear specialist for the hearing aids and was lectured on just about everything from what I ate to how I lived. Very upsetting. Then yesterday I got a notice of foreclosure. I know it is a mistake with the bank but it will take an attorney to sort it out and I have zero energy to deal with this mess.

I had a few drinks last night. This is major stress for me and I really don't have much support around me. Life can kick you in the teeth and keep kicking even when you are down.

Hi.
When my life was similar to most others I drank to temporally escape. Upon awakening the same situations were still there and I felt terrible.
Drinking for me NEVER made situations better. At a point when I was feeling sick and tired of being sick and tiered I fortunately discovered AA for my every day support because they were the professionals at it because it was a period of no internet to hide behind.
All I’ll say it works IF we work it.

BE WELL

Sounds like a rotten week, Art Friend. I'm very sorry that you drank over it. I know you know it wasn't worth the drinks. There was never enough wine when I chose that route.

I'm sorry that you decided to drink, ArtFriend because I'm sure it made you feel worse.

It sounds like a tough week, and I have to wonder why the ear specialist was lecturing you and making you feel bad?

It's good that you're back and working on recovery again.

I am not proud of drinking. Just trying to be accountable and honest. Back to square one.

Because I don't have insurance that will cover hearing aids (which are super expensive) the state of Texas has a program that will pay for them if it is deemed necessary for remaining employed. So, I had to go through their process (basically social services) and this woman made it a point to berate me for all sorts of things really unrelated to the hearing issue. She acted as though SHE was paying for it out of her own pocket.

I cannot understand people who work in human services with out compassion. I am sorry you went through this, ArtFriend. Try and put it in the perspective that you were dealing with a person who has not evolved and don't give it another thought. Their behavior was about them, not you.

Stay strong, don't pick up and lean on us. That's what we're here for.

Wow...nice person eh? That is a shame that people who deal with the public think they have a right to act that way under any circumstance. Shame on her.

Unfortunately, there will always be people out there who are that way. Tune it out as much as you possibly can. It's awesome that your state has a program like that. Focus on that positive.

I am sorry you picked up as I am sure it only helped in the short term. You are right, back to square one, and that is a fine place to be. Jump up, dust off, and move forward.

Thank you all for your support. As I said to someone else's post, I feel incredibly sensitive... like an open wound and any negativity is like salt in that wound. I know I have to interact with people, yet, an intentional (or even unintentional) snide remark sends me into the abyss. I know, consider the source, right? I do, but I still get hurt anyway.

Anyone else super-sensitive in sobriety? (sorry for the alliteration)

My emotions were like a rollercoaster when I first stopped, Art. I didn't trust myself to make any big decisions. I was wisely told to try not to make any life changing decisions for the first year of sobriety, unless it would harm, not yo.
