How do i ask for a sponsor?

The time has come. I feel like a teenager asking someone out on a date. I fear rejection. I have put this off long enough and I would like to ask someone for sponsorship today. I don't have one particular person in mind, I have a few that seem approachable. I haven't connected with anyone at meetings yet. Today will be my fourth meeting. Do I ask before the meeting?
After?
Call one of the numbers on the phone?
We are kind of rural out here, should they be close?
What do I say?

In most AA meetings, after they read the preamble and the 12 steps etc, there is usually a person announcing the literature (sober living book for free for the newcomers counting their ways to 90 days, how to purchase the big book etc.), and then a person talking about sponsorship. they tell you who to go to if you need a sponsor. in any event, before or after the meeting, you can go up to the people who chair the meeting, and ask them you would like to get a sponsor and they will help you! good luck!!

You can ask someone to be a temporary sponsor too until you find someone you like. That's what I did. He turned out to be my permanent

we do things a lot differently in england we never offer out sponsors to anyone in a meeting as its a personal thing, people come around the meetings and listen an meet all sorts of members and if they find someone they like or like what that person has, they approach them to be there sponsor

in choosing a sponsor try to find someone who has been sober a good number of years
never take up an offer from someone who approaches you asking to be your sponsor
like i said try and meet people first and try to get to feel what there like as if they scare you leave them well alone,

it really is an important thing to get the right sponsor for you so please dont rush in and take the first one out of a hat

I am pleased to say, I have a temporary sponsor. I am also pleased to say someone bigger than all of us put together is in control and showing me what to do and today I feel it.
I am also pleased to say I no longer feel alone.
