6 months sober

yep - 6 months today.

anyone who is struggling - please, i know it sounds trite, but if i can do this anyone can. it's a one day at a time thing for me, but whatever works.

i was a rock-bottom, lost-everything alky by the time i got hold of sobriety. i lost my job, my daughter went to live with her dad. my marriage broke up. i couldn't even begin to imagine live without booze.

it took me nearly dying to finally get my teeth into it. please, don't be me.

honestly - i am penniless - on disability benefits. i live on my own with my cat. and i wouldn't change any of it.

my daughter comes to see me once a week - we hang out, watch movies - we are close again and it's the most precious thing.

Well, small steps stick better long term. Your sobriety will aid you in your long term and short term goals. Sounds like you have been through a lot. When a person comes from where you had been and can tell the story, hopefully other will heed the warning before choosing to stop. Congratulations again!

My friend...you have put a smile on my face today. I am so very, very awed, thrilled, delighted and amazed by this heroic tale.

I sincerely congratulate you and wish you the very very best. Way to go !

DISCLAIMER: I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but I had 6 months twice. Both times I got complacent and picked up. Please be dilligent.

I know people who have been sober many, many years without your insight. Truly humbled you shared this with SR friends. Many of us, myself included needed to read this. You are living proof that sobriety may be achieved if the willingness and desire are present.

Well struck!!!
