Celebrating sobriety

I was curious to see if anyone else celebrates their sobriety. Meaning do you celebrate the thirty days, six months and so on? I don't get crazy but I like to just remember how far I've come. Don't get me wrong it's not a crazy keg party but I'll pick up ice cream or go out to a favorite restaurant. I like to remember to slow down sometimes and appreciate the hard work I've put in to maintain my sobriety. I hated counting days at first so I tried to set up rewards along the way.

Hi redviper, yes, I celebrated weeks, months, a year. It felt like a big achievement and it is, so go ahead and celebrate.

I'm coming up on 15 months soon. I keep track of months now. For me it was important to know that I made it past the longest stretch of sobriety I previously had.

I don't really celebrate the milestones but I do treat myself to shopping on a regular basis with the $300-400 I'm saving a month that I used to spend on alcohol. I've been wanting a 55 inch TV to replace my tiny 32 inch and I'm going to buy it next month. I have saved about $1200 since I stopped drinking in June so I feel like I'm getting the TV for free!

Now that I think about it, maybe I'll get the 60 inch, still for way less than I would have spent on alcohol since June. I think I can get used to this sobriety thing!

The money never came to mind really. I've spent more than I'm comfortable to admit to on booze. That's agood idea too.

I made plans to celebrate my two year sobriety date just to figure out it already passed. Life has a way of keeping one distracted. So it's going to be a 25 month weekend out of town. Scratching an item off the bucket list and remembering just how far I've gone. I just need to remember the date next time.

Why wouldn't you celebrate milestones along the way of the most worthwhile and significant achievement of your life so far.
Celebrate away, and have lots of 'em.

I don't openly celebrate my sobriety because so many people don't know how bad off I was. I like to keep the victories to myself. Although I think more people knew than I think.

My kind of celebration these days is a brass lamp for my boat, a cup of tea and cake and a quiet cuddle with my partner.
Who says rock and roll is dead!

I celebrated for maybe the first 3 months and then the first year but I haven't really done so since...

I remember the date but I don't really feel the need to celebrate it any more cos it's my default way of life now

In AA it is common to pick up coins/chips for 30, 60, 90 days, etc. And of course your yearly sober anniversary too.

I do. I have a recovery app that counts my days for me. As of today I'm 205 days sober.

I haven't really gotten far enough to celebrate yet, but I would say I certainly will celebrate in some way, when I get to 30, 60, 90, 365, etc.
